Anesthesiologist needed in Upstate NY_x000D_ Located in Plattsburgh, NY_x000D_ _x000D_ Full Time_x000D_ Permanent_x000D_ _x000D_ Hospital is searching for BC/BE anesthesiologists to join its hospital-based practice._x000D_ The position is to primarily provide services in Plattsburgh, NY. The_x000D_ incoming physician will occasionally provide services at our partner critical care access_x000D_ hospital located one hour away in Malone, NY. _x000D_ The department includes approximately 9 full time and part time anesthesiologists, a few per_x000D_ diems anesthesiologists and two CRNAs. The_x000D_ anesthesiologists cover the range of general cases including general surgery,_x000D_ gastroenterology, orthopedics, urology, thoracic, vascular, plastic surgery, ENT, dental,_x000D_ ophthalmology and obstetrics /gynecology. There are no head or CT cases. Care is_x000D_ provided in 9 main operating rooms, an outpatient surgical center, labor and delivery_x000D_ and limited out of operating room sites._x000D_ _x000D_ 1st call is approx 3 to 4 times each month. 2nd call is approx 2 to 3 times per month._x000D_ Weekend calls would be one weekend every 6 to 8 weeks. Call is from home with a_x000D_ response time of 15 minutes. 1st and 2nd calls are overnight equitably distributed among_x000D_ the anesthesiologists. 1st call is moderate with the post 1st call day off. 2nd call is very_x000D_ light and only backs up 1st call for emergencies that cannot wait or labor analgesia that is_x000D_ expected to be delayed if 1st call is occupied. Late shifts are also equitably shared as well_x000D_ as holiday coverage. Late shifts include 3rd call not held past 1900, 4th and 5th call not_x000D_ held past 17:30 and 6th call not held past 16:30. All pre and post 1st or 2nd call are_x000D_ released by 15:30. Late shifts are shortened when clinical work does not support their_x000D_ need._x000D_ _x000D_ Hospital delivers 800- 900 babies per year with a C-section rate around 33% with half_x000D_ being scheduled. Our labor epidural rate for vaginal deliveries is approximately 65-70%_x000D_ Obstetrician and anesthesiologists are not routinely in house while epidural infusions_x000D_ are running. Labor & Delivery nurses monitor labor epidural patients in accordance_x000D_ with a detailed protocol. TOLAC/VBAC are limited to low risk patients. Our epidural_x000D_ top-up rate is very low, near zero. The obstetricians or midwives remove catheters after_x000D_ delivery. _x000D_ _x000D_ The department covers up to 4 operating rooms and a GI endoscopy suite._x000D_ Anesthesia services provided for surgery includes GI endoscopies, general surgery,_x000D_ podiatry and orthopedics. _x000D_ _x000D_ Hospital has 9 state-of-the-art operating rooms and an ambulatory surgery center with 4 operating rooms. _x000D_ Cases include a broad spectrum of procedures with an approximate annual volume 19,000.
